Wage Structure:
12 positions were benchmarked at a "mock company" called ACE Hotels. Salary surveys and research were conducted to obtain salary and brief job description data. Job Evaluations were performed using the Aiken Plan job evaluation tool. Based on the data obtained, a wage structure was established at ACE Hotel by determining pay grades and spreads. This group assignment with three members on the team gave us a good practice on developing wage structures. An analysis was also done to check if there was any bias or discrimination was involved during the process, but was found that there was none.
Accounting:
The two accounting assignments which were done in pairs gave us a good practice and exposure to create accounting equations, income statements, statements of Owner's Equity and balance sheets for various scenarios. They also trained us prepare journal entries, post transactions into ledgers and prepare trial balances for a particular period.
Payroll Calculations were done for 4 different scenarios with journal entries. This pair assignment gave a good practice on calculating payroll costs, payroll deductions and payments.
A Maternity/Parental leave Supplementary Unemployment Benefit (SUB) Policy Plan was developed for a fictitious Defence Company called Canadian Department of Defence with federal jurisdiction.
